Baby & Co. Shower

We had the pleasure of working with an amazing couple for the arrival of their little one. The couple didn't want to know the gender of their new bundle of joy so we used some neutral colors for the shower. We went with aqua and orange for our Baby & Co. theme.

Mom picked an awesome invitation from AshleyShellyCreative! They were super efficient and the service was amazing.
Sample of invite from her Etsy shop

The parents to be have an amazing home in Mission Viejo so that was the location for the shower. We used the colors throughout! The event was catered by The Original Taco-Man. The food was outstanding. We had many guest talking about the food. Vickie and her team were quick on their feet and did a great job providing quality service and food!

Our table settings were created with the use of shower colors. Orange linen overlays with aqua and orange place settings. The matching plates, napkins and napkin rings were from Moskatels. They always have great solid and printed items for any occasion. For the centerpieces we used simple glass vases and added a pop of orange with the use of real oranges. Cut the slices thin and put a small amount of styrofoam in the center to hold the oranges in place. Add water and voila! Fresh hydrangeas were use as the main flower with additional orange floral accents.

Each guest received a caramel candy apple with chocolate drizzle made by our team as a thank you! The guest had sweets and more sweets!

Many of our sweet treats came from Oriental Trading Company including gumballs, candy sticks and mints. Our cute popcorn boxes, straws and gable boxes were aslo from our friends at Oriental Trading.  Some special made Baby &  Co. cookies created by Liezl of Love, Peace & Bento. The chevron patterned aqua and orange cake came from our friends at Torrance Bakery. It was so  good!

Michelle from Printabelle created all of our party printables for the occasion! She did an awesome job as usual to bring it all together.

We had a great time celebrating Baby Ausar and wish the family nothing but love and happiness for days to come!

Picture Your Future Grad Party

We had an amazing time putting together this "Picture Your Future" graduation celebration for my nephew. He recently graduated from 8th grade and will be beginning his freshman year of high school in the fall. His parents wanted to celebrate where he was going so we decided to use his soon to be school colors of forrest green, gold and white.

When I saw the printables from Piggy Bank Parties I knew it would be perfect for what I was trying to create for Anthony. The set included this cute banner, party signs/cards and a photo banner amongst other items.

On the dessert table we had some really cute sweets. The graduate cap sugar cookies were done by Torrance Bakery. We lined the wooded tray with green liner from Michaels to add some color.

I purchased some Pirourette chocolate filled waffer cookies and hand tied green ribbon to resemble a diploma. They were really a hit!

We layered the table with a green and gold material from Joann's to add pops of green along side the black and white printables. Some other accents we used were bottles of Jones soda. It was fun and was a suttle and we added green ribbon when possible. When purchasing store bought cupcakes add toppers and liners to give it a different look. We used "cap" toppers and graduation liners from Party City to give the ordinary yet tasty cupcakes some flair.

The fabolous cake pops from Creole Primas were amazing. I love that they added black and white straws which was the perfect accent. The lemon flavored pops did not last long!

Class rings! Of course, we used assorted ring pops! What do you think?

Included in the printable set from Piggy Bank Parties was a photo banner.  I asked the parents to send school pictures of Anthony. We added pictures from Kindergarten all the way to 8th grade. I think we saw a few tears from the parents!

Each guest was able to write a note to the graduate and send him well wishes as he embarks upon his high school journey. Piggy Bank Parties included these sheets and left spots for photos. We are going to add pictures from his graduation and make a special scrap book for him as a gift. Nice personal touch!

Here are more pictures from the celebration that we enjoyed!

We are so excited and proud of Anthony for his accomplishments. He graduated with a 4.0 grade point average and received the Presidential Award. We look forward to great things from you and best of luck at St. Monica's High School in the Fall.

Have a Blu day!

A class of their own....

In addition to Something Blu Events, I am also an educator. This year I had Kindergarten and 1st grade students. It has been a challenging yet productive school year with my kiddos but I wanted to give them something to remember me and the great year we had together. I saw this awesome picture on Jo's Photo Mojo  so I decided to create one of my own. I really focused on my students reaching their goals and knowing what they wanted to be when they grew up. This picture summed it all up!

This DIY project was simple and required little to nothing. I purchased some chalkboard spray paint from Home Depot and sprayed a few old dry erase boards that I had. The paint dries within 8-10 minutes so it was ready shortly after. Each child told me all the great things they wanted to be and it was awesome to see how excited they each were. I used the photo editing collage maker in Picasa to create the picture. Once I created it I sent it to my local photo shop to print and gave each student a copy in a nice frame as a keepsake. What a way to end the year. I hope that each child and parent will cherish this for years to come!

Paris' 1st Birthday Carnival Celebration

We had the distinct pleasure of putting together an awesome 1st birthday celebration for one of our favorite little princesses, Paris.

The celebration took place at RompLA in Hollywood. The location and staff were amazing and did everything to assist in making this a great celebration.

All of the party printables were done by our friend Michelle over at Printabelle. She always has such creative things and her carnival set worked perfect and she was able to match the color palette we used perfectly! From the dessert table sign to the water bottle labels, everything was bright and fun!

As part of the Blogger community for Oriental Trading Company I was able to showcase and use some fantastic products to feature for this celebration. This candy pink reversible table runner added a nice pop of color to our table. We decided to use the polka dot side to coordinate with the yellow polka dot party hats. For the centerpieces we used aqua tins and added rainbow whirly pops and mini pin wheels from Michaels.

The treats table was filled with all kinds of goodies! We used the mini candy pink striped popcorn boxes from Oriental Trading and added a 2 inch cut out in front. We used the same cut out for the cup cake toppers. These were a huge hit with kids and adults! The boxes fit right in with the hot pink accents.

The fabulous sugar cookies were created by Sunflower Baking. We placed those over a bed of gold shimmer yellow chocolate covered candies also from Oriental Trading! They were the perfect size.

We had some fantastic mini cheesecakes from Cream by Crystal. Can you say amazing? Bite size pieces of heaven. To add a little more color we used hot pink, yellow and turquoise shimmer gum balls from Oriental Trading. They looked cute and tasted even better.
Mom was able to locate a cute ferris wheel that we added hot pink treat cups from Oriental Trading filled with animal cookies! Those didn't last long!

Our pink smash cake from Torrance Bakery was too cute! I think Dad enjoyed it more than our little birthday girl!

As the celebration continued the little party guest were able to get face painting done while enjoying the indoor playground at RompLA. This is definitely a great place for awesome family fun. Our little Paris had a great 1st birthday celebration. Thanks VVK Photo for capturing the moments!

To many more years of love and laughter, Prepetit Family! Thanks for allowing Something Blu to be a part of another momentus occasion  in your lives.
